September 23rd, 2009 · Uncategorized

Remember when Percy Harvin said that if he could trade places with anyone for a day, it would be Tim Tebow? We didn’t think it was to spend time at the local prisons sharing the Word …

The guys at Friendsoftheprogram discovered this gem over the weekend…

Tebow Still Leads Heisman Pundit’s Week 3 Poll, Best Close Second

September 23rd, 2009 · Uncategorized

Tim Tebow still leads Heisman Pundit’s poll through week 3 of the college football season. Tebow received 7 first place votes to lead with 57 overall points. Cal RB Jevhid Best jumped Texas QB Colt McCoy to take second picking up 5 first place votes and closing Tebow’s lead with 55 overall points. Best picked up 4 additional first place votes this week, taking 1 from Tebow and 3 from McCoy. Miami’s do-it-all QB Jacory Harris jumped into the mix at #4. Harris’ entry into the sweepstakes could hurt Tebow’s chances as Tebow will likely need the East and Southeast vote to become only the 2nd two-time Heisman winner.

Eye Black to Blame for Tebow’s INT/Fumble Against the Vols?

September 20th, 2009 · Uncategorized

Tim Tebow has become a one man bible verse machine since his meteoric rise onto the college football scene three years ago. The bible versus he chooses to wear each game on his eye black routinely find its way onto Google’s most searched terms. Yesterday’s Romans 8:28 was no exception coming in at No. 5 on Google’s most search terms for the day.

We couldn’t help but to notice that Tebow’s INT came right after the eye black carrying the chapter and verse fell off his left cheek. As the game went to the half, we were sure that the chapter and verse would make it back where it belongs. When Tebow returned to the field, the chapter and verse was nowhere to be seen. Late in the game, as the Gator were driving for a touchdown to seal the victory, Tebow uncharacteristically fumbled (only the 6th of his career).

Could Tebow’s eye black be his equivalent to Sampson’s hair? Just in case, we recommend Tebow go with Judges 15:15-16 next week!

Gators Still Unanimous #1 in Coaches Poll

September 20th, 2009 · Uncategorized

Florida maintained its stranglehold on the Coaches Poll receiving all 59 first place votes. Texas holds on to the #2 spot, followed by Alabama at #3. USC falls to #10. The SEC has 4 teams in the top 7 this week with Ole Miss coming in at #5, and LSU at #7, meaning the Gators still have two games against likely top 5 opponents remaining on the schedule.

Things Aren’t Always Nu’Keasy When You Join The Dark Side

September 19th, 2009 · Uncategorized

Nu’Keese Richardson, the recruit at the center of the Kiffin-foot-in-mouth Urban Meyer “cheating” scandal this summer, apparently has been catching quite a bit of heat from Florida fans. Among other things, there is currently a push on Gator message boards to direct taunts his way Sunday.

While a kid that turns on any team at the very last minute deserves some flack, his coach certainly hasn’t done him any favors here. Lane’s job is to protect these kids, not exploit them for a few cheers at a booster function. Not only did Lane accuse Urban of cheating with regard to Nu’Keese’s recruitment, but he also gloated about stealing him from Florida. Hopefully Lane learned his lesson this year, but this ain’t his first rodeo, and something tells us he’s just getting started. Unfortunately, for Nu’Keese, Lane won’t be out there returning punts for him today.

Reason No. 1001 Why Tebow Can’t Play in the NFL: He’s a lefty?

September 18th, 2009 · Uncategorized

We here at Gatorfootball talk have heard it all: he’s never taken a snap, he’s not accurate (I’m looking at you Mel Kiper), his arm is not strong enough, his throwing motion is too loopy, he will get beat up trying to run in the NFL, and he has only ever played in the spread offense.

But this one takes the cake, the Wall Street Journal, yes we said Wall Street Journal, of all people take their shot at why Tebow can’t play in the NFL: He’s a lefty. The Journal takes a look at the lack of left handed quarterbacks in the NFL to surmise that being left handed may be Tebow’s downfall. Gatorfootballtalk suggests that the Wall Street Journal stay in its weight class. (WSJ)
